20170416 - Gran Canaria - Day 10
On our last full day on the island, we visited Roque Nublo.
When you get closer, and think you will be able to perhaps climb the rock, you notice tiny dots moving on the top of the rock. And the dots turn out to be people, and you realise that it is still a way to go, and that you will not be able to climb the thing.
Many years ago, my brother and I visited this same spot. I shot a photo with my one of my all time favourite lenses, the Canon 200mm f/1.8, in the direction you see here. The light was much better, the shadows nicer, the trees more lush, but the focus was way of. Ever since then I have tried to recreate that photo with better focus, without much luck.
From Roque Nublo, you can see this plateau. Check out the buildings on the edges of the mountain in the bottom part of the photo. What an amazing place. That area is called Acusa Verde, and a couple of the houses on the brim have rooms you can rent.
The "little" rock on the plateau is called the frog. People climb both rocks when the weather allows it.
