25 Degrees Celsius below zero, is about right for camping.

Friday, December 4th, 2010.
Sara and I headed for the woods as the temperature dropped to something you could really feel. This expedition was to be fully self supported (meaning that we carried all the food and stuff we needed for the _entire_ expedition on our backs), had it not been for an on camp visit by my dad. He brought us hot chocolate and warm food in the evening. Which was very nice indeed.

I carried our campfire logs, photo gear (only ONE camera, ONE lens and ONE tripod, which left me feeling a little amputated), most of the food and then some. It filled my 85 liter backpack almost to the rim. I could have brought some more photo gear.

Whilst crossing the largest body of water in the territory (a small lake), the Burudvann, we stopped for a few shots here and there.

Wonderful ice crystals had formed in the intense cold.

I've never seen them this large before. The biggest "leafs" were about 5-7 cm/2-3 inches across.

Sara in her tent. It looks warm and cosy, but it is really very very cold, and she spent quite some time getting the temperature up in her sleeping bag.

Startrails, and the sky lit by some remote city.

About an hour and a half exposure time.

This worked pleasingly well, having something in the foreground to frame the moving stars (or really the Earths rotation). I'll try a longer exposure time, like the photo above, the next time I get a chance.
