We visited the little mountain village in February 2010, and decided all ready then that we had to venture back this summer. Summer came, and we went. Driving through Germany, starting with Sylt in the north, then through Switzerland, Austria and then finally arriving in northern Italy.

We spent a night close to Rorschach, Switzerland at a little inn, that looked just like The Prancing Pony. It even had a similar sign hanging outside, with a white pony prancing around. In the above photo our little viking is enjoying "apfelschorle". A mix of sparkling water and apple juice.

The "Artist"

At the highest point of the pass, there was a little museum with information about how they built the pass. Incredible what they managed "in the old days" without iPhones, air-condition and similar essential tools that we can not exist without today.
